Another festival was planned in 1914 but was cancelled because of World War I. In 1917 however, Freidrich Gehmacher and Heinrich Damisch founded on organization that would establish a festival of drama and music focused on the works of Mozart. In August 22, 1920, the Salzburg Festival was finally inaugurated and is now held every year.
